Episode summary

Our guest is Florent Chalot, Environmental Engineer and Partner at the Mu Cooperative. From the beginning of Carbon Saver, the Mu Cooperative has contributed to the creation of the environmental score of the web application. The quality and scientific rigor of Carbon Saver's score earned it the Green Tech Innovation label from the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

Ecodesign consists in taking the environment into account when designing a product, whether it is a physical good, a service, a building, a software, etc. According to a UN study, 80% of the impact of a product or a service occurs at the design stage.

In this Carbon Saver podcast on DfE, one of the things you'll learn is that the ways in which waste is transported can affect its environmental impact. Haulers that pool waste transport tend to be more sustainable.

The central question for construction projects is to determine the best way to act in a given situation, depending on the contexts, the geographical conditions and the quality of the materials.

Because the sites are very different, the issues vary accordingly. It is therefore important to adapt to each situation in order to provide relevant advice. This is what Carbon Saver tries to do by providing personalized advice with a score that adapts to the scale and context of the project.

Note: The Mu Cooperative is an eco-design agency that helps companies understand the environmental impacts of their products and improve them. The agency's team includes environmental engineers and designers who analyze the life cycle of a product and help find solutions to improve it.
